Tony & Rick Palmer
The Tony and Rick Palmer scholarship was set up for an individual who views physical therapy as a “calling,” not a job; one who sees physical therapy as a wide ranging and versatile physical improvement process, not a medical procedure. This individual would seek and absorb knowledge, not just to pass a test, but to be as capable as a physical therapist as possible. The recipient would be totally patient oriented, compassionate yet firm to encourage positive results.
The recipient would verbally and physically interact with a patient during treatment, as opposed to setting up the machine, starting the treatment and returning at the end of the allotted treatment period. he/she is excited daily by the thought of being able to help people through physical therapy.
Time on the job is devoted to helping patients and peers; administrative duties wait until all patient care is complete. He/she would be selfless and totally professional with regard to patients. They would be compelled to advise medical doctors of appropriate treatments, and view the doctors as physical therapy team members.
Tony and Rick Palmer were brothers whom passed away from Multiple Sclerosis.
