Dolores Carroll
David Carroll established the Dolores Carroll Memorial Scholarship. Dolores “Tudy” passed away on October 30, 1984, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. This was the first scholarship established exclusively for minority students at UWL. David said he discussed the idea of a scholarship with his wife before her death and she wanted something meaningful. Dolores worked for the Office of Minority Affairs for several years at UWL and was committed to the abolition of racial prejudice and to the principle of equality.
Dolores attended UWL from 1967 to 1968 and then continued her education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she doubled majored in history and political science.
Impact
Dolores and David Carroll were committed to social justice and equality for everyone. This was the first endowment fund to support under-represented students at UWL. Her legacy will continue at UWL.
