B. J. Young Scholarship (SOE)

• first or second semester senior to be enrolled full time
• in even-numbered years (2026-27), recipient will be either 1. an elementary major with an additional certifiable major, or 2. two minors; in odd-numbered years (2025-26), recipient will be either 1. a double (secondary) major, with one major being geography, or 2. a Broadfield social studies major with a geography minor.
• at least a 3.0 gpa
• financial need should be considered
• highly successful in pre-student teaching clinical experiences
• evidence of an understanding of child or adolescent development and ability to develop a positive working relationship with students
• evidence of basic understanding of sound principles of teaching and learning
