Grace Olwell

Grace Olwell left La Crosse State Teachers College more than 90 years ago, but she never forgot the campus. After graduating from La Crosse, Olwell taught in Elroy, Pewaukee and Milwaukee for 35 years. She died at age 92 on Fe. 19, 1996.

She left a major portion of her estate for scholarships at UW-L. This bequest demonstrates her concern, as a retired teacher, that students be able to continue their education without worrying about rising tuition. Because she remembered them, students at UW-L will long remember this generous and thoughtful Sparta, WI native.
