David Smith
David Smith graduated from UWL in 2003 with a degree in Finance. He was a scholarship recipient as an undergraduate student. David & his wife, Megan, established this endowment fund in 2018 to support a finance major.
His career led him from La Crosse to Chicago to New York and most recently back to the Chicago area. In 2020 he was named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Treehouse Real Estate Investment Trust, Inc. (“Treehouse” or the “Company”), a privately-held real estate investment trust that owns a net leased portfolio of cannabis-related real estate. David has more than 15 years of real estate experience and joined Treehouse from New Senior Investment Group, Inc. (NYSE: SNR) where he most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from January 2019 to September 2019. Prior, Mr. Smith served as a Managing Director in the Private Equity Group of Fortress Investment Group from 2014 to 2018, where he led capital markets and investor relations activities for New Senior Investment Group. Prior to Fortress, Mr. Smith held various finance, capital markets, and investor relations roles at Ventas (NYSE: VTR) and Aviv REIT (NYSE: AVIV), after beginning his career in the real estate investment banking group at A.G. Edwards.
