Charlotte Markos

The purpose of this fund is to honor the life and legacy of Charlotte M. Markos. She provided funds and requested that this endowed scholarship be established.

Charlotte was one of the few women in the 1960s to graduate from the College of Business Administration (CBA) at UW-La Crosse. She was a charter member of Silver Eagles, a member of the International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi, Eta Rho Chapter, and served on the CBA’s Advisory Board. Through her involvement with Silver Eagles and the Alumni Association, she continued to be involved in CBA’s Take an Eagle to Lunch, and she became a mentor for women who were pursuing a business degree.

Charlotte was vice-president and co-manager of three family-owned retail clothing stores: Salem Markos and Sons Inc. in downtown La Crosse and two Markos’ Clothing Inc. locations at Center 90 and Valley View Mall. One of her greatest joys was serving four generations of customers. Throughout her life, Charlotte made a positive impact on her family, friends, church, and the La Crosse community.

Her hope would be for the recipients of this scholarship to be proud of their accomplishments and to become successful and happy in their lives.
