Max Winter

Max Winter

The Max Winter Scholarship in Photography and the Max Winter Scholarship in International Education were established as a memorial to their son by Ken and Lynn Winter. Max tragically lost his life after losing his footing and falling from Grandad’s Bluff. Max was an Eagle Scout and an active outdoorsman and had hiked the nearby heights of his parent’s home since childhood. Max was 22 years old and a student at UWL majoring in history. Max loved photography and travel and those passions led his parents to establish the two funds.

Impact

Ken and Lynn Winter established this scholarship in 2002. At that time, Ken was on the faculty of the UWL accountancy department. Dr. Winter understood the importance of supporting students through scholarships. Ken Winter retired in May 2015 after a 27-year career at UWL.

The legacy of Max Winter will continue at UWL through this memorial scholarship. We are grateful for the continuing support of his family.
